The world's first hydrogen hotel
Since its opening in 2018, the hotel has been participating in the Ministry of the Environment's "Regional Collaboration and Low Carbon Hydrogen Technology Demonstration Project" in cooperation with Resonac Corporation under Kawasaki City's "Waterfront Area Vision" and "Kawasaki Hydrogen Strategy".
Approximately 30% of the hotel's electricity was supplied by hydrogen, but this demonstration project was terminated on March 31, 2022.
On September 15, 2021, the hotel was selected by the Ministry of the Environment for the "Project to Promote the Use of Hydrogen Derived from Renewable Energies, etc. for the Construction of a Decarbonized Society," and the hotel intends to start generating hydrogen power again in 2023 as the "Hydrogen Hotel" by installing a "50kW Pure Hydrogen Stationary FC Power Generation System" manufactured by Meiji Electric Industry Co., Ltd. using a fuel cell (FC) module manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation as part of the "Hydrogen Supply Chain Social Implementation Support Project" (*1).
